The Professional Paradox

Let’s double-click on that

New quarter, new vocabulary. Today’s meeting was forty minutes and I understood none of it, and I say this as a person whose actual job is words.

We’re not going to talk about things anymore. We’re going to double-click on them. We don’t have problems, we have headwinds. We’re not understaffed, we’re running lean into the sprint while we socialise the ask.

At one point someone said “let’s not boil the ocean” and everyone nodded like he’d said something normal.

I have started keeping a list. When I reach fifty I’m having it framed.

O and the meeting ended with “let’s take this offline”, which means the meeting will happen again, but worse, and without biscuits.

Synergy.
